The 6 speed transmission was designed with a 260-290ft.lbs torque fatigue limit. While this is roughly 100ft.lbs of torque lower than the 5 speed transmission, there are several things that we do that  have proven to increase the durability and service life of this transmission. This transmission service includes high intensity shot peening of the gearset to increase the durability of the narrower gears that are found in this transmission. If gearing is worn or damaged gearing will be replaced with new revised parts. We have eliminated the lubrication problems associated with the 6 speed by machining more oil passage ways which provide increased oil flow to critical components.  The transmission is specially built to cope with higher torque and features gear detail work to the lead edge and root diameter of the gear teeth. This allows the gearsets to handle higher torque without failure.  The recommended clutch for the 6 speed should hold no more than 400ft.lbs of torque. Hubs, sleeves, shift rails and shift assembly are polished for silky smooth shifting. We recommend this service to those who have a 6 speed transmission.
