A  factory new transfer case but we replace the weak powdered metal spider gearset that are found in the front differential with stronger forged spider gearset, larger  M10 side cover bolts and the Neodymium magnet.  The mesh zone of the ring & pinion and bearing preloads are adjusted for high torque applications.

TRANSFER CASE TUNE-UP SERVICE

One thing that we commonly see wrong with the Mitsubishi Evolution transfer case is that the preloads of the bearings are not adjusted for high torque applications.  The bearings that support the ring & pinion are usually set way too loose to hold the gears in proper alignment with one another and when the ring & pinion is loaded to the nuts with torque, during a mad launch, the contact or mesh zone moves towards the heal of the ring gear and up above center which putting way too much force on the teeth where it shouldn't be making contact. Eventually this strain will cause the teeth on the ring gear to yield and crack.  This can be avoided by having the transfer case bearing preloads adjusted correctly and by adjustment of the ring & pinion mesh zone. The ring gear is carefully shot peened which increases the durability and the side cover bolts are upgraded to the larger M10 bolts.  This service is a wise investment.

MITSUBISHI HELICAL LIMITED SLIP FRONT DIFFERENTIAL

This MITSUBISHI HELICAL front limited slip is designed to provide increased traction, ultimately keeping the front end of the car on track where you have the steering wheel pointed. This is an absolute must for the EVO that drag races, autocrosses, road or rally races.  Installation is easy and it can be installed without removing the transfer case in less than an 3 hours with simple hand tools.  No shimming required, simple drop-in.  NOTE:  While is a simple drop-in, it is recommended that you have your transfer case sent to our facility for the installation service (listed below).

RIPGRIP FRONT DIFFERENTIAL UNIT

What is a RIPGRIP?  It's the infamous limit slip insert thingy for your transfer case's open-style front differential, designed to provide increased traction to both front wheels.  CNC'd from tool steel and it has the heavy duty springs. NOTE:  it is recommended that you send your differential to our facility for the installation service (listed above). We are now machining the contact surfaces of the spider gears so that they are matched to the surface of the RIPGRIP. This provides a substantial increase in the friction  that can be generated giving you more grip. The differential housing also receives some work to provide more lubrication to the areas that we don't want to wear out.

REAR DIFFERENTIAL UPGRADE SERVICE

We are now offering our custom rear differential upgrade. With over 200% more surface area and 60% more lock-up, the EVO will now rotate better when you get on the throttle versus understeering upon exit of a turn. Don't know what that means? Think Dukes of Hazard.

It's like this... an EVO can chase a WRX into a turn but can't keep with it after the apex because the WRX rear diff works better and the WRX enjoys heavy throttle input, accelerating at the exit, while the EVO just won't rotate enough and pushes wide... well not anymore. With the increased lock-up the EVO can even require some counter steer upon exit which means now you can quit trying crazy suspension settings to coax the EVO to finish the turn and focus on setting it up for max grip.  Autocross EVOs are knocking over a second off every 60 seconds of track length and road racers are achieving quicker track times due to the ability to use the whole track and  more conventional suspension set-ups and of course longer front tire life. Crazy now ain't it?

We aren't saying that this upgrade is the end all to making an EVO understeer but it has proven itself time and time again to be one of the best bangs for the buck, a worthwhile upgrade, even on stock suspension. Before you buy any suspension component you should consider sending your rear differential unit over for this upgrade.

Turn around time is quick, about 2-3 days. This service includes: new friction plates, modified side sheaves, new fill and drain plugs, magnaflux inspection of ring & pinion, shims, seals, adjustment of ring & pinion and a fresh painting so it looks like new again.

TRE-Spec: Maximum amount of lock-up available. Intended for those who have suspension upgrades. $350 special price.

EVOLUTION DRAG RACE FINAL DRIVE GEARING

The 3.73 final drive gearset is 17% taller than the OEM final drive ratio that is found in the 5 speed transmission. Stout by design and intended for high power stroker motor EVOs that are being drag raced and those who want to explore life above 200mph. The gearset is precision ground after heat treating and is very quiet, easy to install and no modifications required and the speedometer will read correctly. Note: This gearing makes all the gears have a higher top speed and 1st gear will take some getting used to.
