offering the option of shot peening as one of the services that you can get
done to
any of the parts that we sell. Shot peening is a cold metal working
post process which is done to the gears to make them tougher and last
longer. As the shot strikes the gear it
peens
the surface, leaving small indentations or dimples. Overlapping
dimples develop an even layer of metal in residual compressive stress. This
is a good thing for it is well known that cracks will not initiate or
propagate in a compressively stressed zone, such as the root radius of the
gear teeth. Rule of thumb: shot peened gears generally act like they
are 20% larger in cross section and will hold up to high torque much better
than gears that aren't shot peened.

The taller gear ratio is ideal for
those who drag race. The taller 1st gear helps
with getting a better 60' time. It is the strongest 1st

DOUBLE SYNCHRO 2ND
GEAR KIT

The double synchro
2nd gear will allow you to upshift into 2nd gear at much higher
rpms/vehicle speeds. How high? a bazillion rpms, that's how high.
We've tested it above 10,500 but you should be more concerned about
having a properly adjusted clutch.

Speed
Design 4 Spider center differential
The center differential performs the strenuous task of
sending power to both front & rear differentials.
Speed Design's 4 spider center differential with
Torrington thrust bearing has proven itself capable of hold
up to the abuse of hard launches and parking lot
mischief better than those that are using a cut-down
stock cross shaft. We precisely CNC machine the
center differential housing
leaving more material
in critical areas
which allows the housing to retain the more strength. The cross
shaft, by design, has
twice the load bearing surface
when compared to using a cut-down OEM cross shaft.
Some will try to save money by machining down the
factory cross shaft. However, this is not nearly as strong
and from the material science side because you have the problem of the two extra
spider gears rubbing on a surface that doesn't have
the correct hardness to avoid
galling and
wearing out prematurely. The
Speed Design cross shaft
is made of a high strength alloy and is precision
ground after heat treat, the correct way to do it. If
you're always leaving the line hard Speed Design's 4
spider center differential is recommended and we feel
that it is the best 4 spider center diff out there,
period.

only afford a hotdog. Sarcasm aside, this is the
next best thing to the Speed Design 4 spider
center differential that we sell. A new factory
OEM cross shaft is precision ground to the proper
tolerances and the center differential housing is CNC
machined to allow for the 2 extra spider gears. It's
the best low budget 4 spider out because the machine
work is the best. If I were you I'd option for the Speed
Design 4 spider center differential. Why?
Because it's worth every penny in the long run.

RIPGRIP FRONT DIFFERENTIAL
What is a RIPGRIP?
It's the infamous limit slip insert thingy for your transmission's open-style
front differential, designed to provide increased traction to both front wheels.
CNC'd from tool steel and it has the strongest springs available so you get the
most lock-up possible. You will not break this thing! We stock them for the the
FWD & AWD Mitsubishi vehicles and custom units are available upon request.
NOTE: It is
recommended that you send your differential to our facility for the installation
service (listed above). We are now machining the contact surfaces of the spider
gears so that they are matched to the surface of the RIPGRIP and modifying the
differential housing to provide more lubrication to the surfaces that wear out.
This provides a substantial increase in the limited slip action while providing
a longer service.

TRE-SPEC
CENTER DIFFERENTIAL SPOOL
TRE
offers a center differential spool for the AWD DSM
gearboxes. This allows the power to be sent equally to
both the front and rear differentials, improving
traction, by replacing the stock side & spider gears,
that are inside your center differential, with a
spool. The
name "spool" is old drag racing slang for the drive
wheels being "locked" together so that they both turn
the same speed regardless of traction, wheel size etc.
but in the case of the center diff the spool locks
both the front and rear portions of the AWD drivetrain
together.
Drag racers like the spool because it reduces their
60' times by as much as .2ths of a second. Rally
guys like it because it reduces understeer while
cornering.
The high quality spool
is CNC'd from a one piece billet and allows the front
pinion shaft and output shaft to "float" keeping
unnecessary stress at the splines to a minimum.
The increased spline lengths better distribute the
load onto the pinion shaft & output shaft. The end
result is that front pinion shaft or side gear failure
is virtually eliminated. The viscous coupling is
replaced with a clever billet Aluminum output shaft
retainer included. The spool and revised jamb
pads are heat treated for ultimate durability.
The new jamb pads no longer require the retaining
bolts, eliminating the problem of the bolts backing
out. This easily installs into the center
diff without any modification or welding and can be
removed and reused in any AWD transmission 89-99.
