So what does all this
core charge stuff really mean?
Let's say you decide to get an
EVOLUTION 5 speed transmission, a
STAGE 2
EVO-8/9 EXCHANGE
for your EVO
because you want to eliminate
the down
time.
The up front amount you will be paying is the
sale price of $1800 +
$750 core charge = $2550
The cost of Shipping & Insurance to
send the transmission anywhere in the 48 states is
$75. We will take care of the return shipping of the
core.
This means that the STAGE
2 EVO-8/9
exchange transmission costs $1875 to your door and you
didn't have to wait for a rebuild. Pretty sweet
isn't it.
When you send
your transmission back for credit, just place
your transmission inside the box that your new
transmission was delivered in and contact us. We
will arrange a pick-up through Fedex and they will be
back the following business day. Have the transmission
ready because Fedex stops by early!

WHAT IS A CORE?
We must have your old transmission core returned in a rebuildable condition. Otherwise we
would have no units to exchange. In order to encourage you to make a timely
return, we invoice you for the price of the rebuilt unit, PLUS we invoice
you for the value of the core.
A core return due date is 60 days from date on your invoice. We
reserve the right to refuse the return of any core that is over 90 days
past due date. If you need special consideration for the return of your core, you
must arrange an extended core agreement at the time of purchase but really
90 days should be plenty of time.
A core credit is not issued until we complete the inspection of your core
transmission. This may take up to 10 days after we receive your core but is
usually handled before then.
Core deductions will be charged only if your core is in poor condition.
Some of the guidelines are:
Broken or cracked case, housing or casting, spun bearing in case
Excessive gear and/or shaft damage
Ring and pinion not reusable
Damage to 5th gearset and/or center differential outer gear
Burnt or flooded units
Transmissions that have been ran low on oil
Missing components
We will accept all cores;
thrashed cores, including multiple cores, but the amount refunded will
depend on the condition of transmission or transmissions we receive.
TRE will call or e-mail you an explanation of any core reductions.
You may request the return of damaged parts for inspection (at your
expense).
TRE's main goal is to remanufacture your core for the next customer.
If a core is badly damaged to rebuild, it is of little use to us.
Please understand this if you are send back a transmission that was ran out
of oil or driven till it wouldn't drive any further...you know what I'm
talking about.
If you have a question about a specific problem you suspect with your core,
please call us. We can often give you a dollar figure based upon your
condition report.
